The Hiiragiya Bekkan, a.k.a. The Holly House, is a small, traditional ryokan (inn) in Kyoto, Japan, which I first visited 17 years ago. This mini project is a vignette of the life of this tiny inn, which has been in operation for 200 years. The staff are its lifeblood, and their warmth and care for the inn and its patrons have breathed life into the place itself.
